We’re always looking for fresh new material or talent. Have a look around the site and get a feel for our tone then if you think you have something interesting to show us, let us know! In case you didn’t notice, we write about Africa, Africans and Africans in the diaspora. Here are some more submission guidelines:
1. ORIGINAL content: You either wrote this story for your personal blog or wrote it for us. It can be political, satirical, controversial, or topical–it just has to be original. We also like book and film reviews, feature length articles, high-quality videos, interviews, original photographs…you get the picture.
2. STORY IDEAS: Just getting started ? No problem–just send us a couple of story pitches. We particularly like stories that haven’t been covered all over the internet or by international media but will have general interest outside your local area.
3. You are a WRITER or JOURNALIST or VIDEOGRAPHER: If you’re looking to flex your creative muscle, our editors have plenty of story assignments.
For general blog posts we like to stay under 500 words. For longer features, feel free to go up to 2000 words. Around 750 words is our sweet spot. For video clips, keep it on the shorter side please. We always get back to our contributors regardless of whether we run your story or not. Send an email to:
