The insane dystopian vision of a post-apocalyptic Johannesburg is the real star of South African commercial director, Terence Neale’s new video for EDM superstar Skrillex. In Ragga Bomb, Skrillex follows the lead of Solange Knowles and other artists finding inspiration for their videos from African creativity. Neale is probably best known for his video collaborations with Die Antwoord’s Ninja, which push the envelope of creativity and design.
This ridiculous video was shot in Alexandria (a township in Jozi) and features break dancers, trash collectors, light saber fights and of course, super-tight bass. A newly reinvigorated Skrillex brings along jungle legends the Ragga Twins, Demon Rockers and Flinty Badman, who also feature on a few other songs on his new album. The art direction and production chops coming out of Jozi right now are, like, next level.
