British-Nigerian actor Chiwetel Ejiofor exhibits a subtle touch on a complex subject in this short film which examines the source and consequences of Coltan, one of the worlds most controversial minerals.
In this wide-ranging short film, we are presented with a young soldier discovering Coltan in the Congo and then his older self after the ravages of wealth accumulation at all costs have taken their toll. This chronicle is juxtaposed against the story of a young game developer with knowledge of Coltan’s properties and power, but no knowledge of its source.
In this thought-provoking piece, Ejiofor successfully puts forward a tight narrative without wasting a minute. This is one short that is well worth the 12 minute investment of your time.
