The ARx team missed Biyi Bandele‘s film adaptation of Half of a Yellow Sun, the Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie bestseller when it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year but we eagerly awaited its release. Then we waited. And waited. We hear that finally the film is going to get its big moment with a UK release slated for April and other countries to follow. Starring Chiwetel Ojiofor and Thandie Newton, anecdotal reactions from TIFF viewers were mixed skewing mostly negative, but this is one to put on your must-see list for the year, if only to gaze upon the major star power of the leads. It would be remiss to not mention the controversy surrounding bi-racial Thandie Newton cast as an Igbo woman, which was a studio decision.
What do you guys think of the casting choices, are you looking forward to this film? Let us know in the comments.
